Science Investigation Box

I am currently taking a class at my college called Science Methods. One of the main projects that we had to complete was a investigation box. For this box we needed to come up with a science topic for elementary students and include supplies in the box that students could investigate themselves. My theme for my box was Sink or Float.

I Included the materials of my box on the lid so they were always at hand for the children to see!

I included 2 books although I am sure that their are many more books that could be used for this theme.

The first activity that I had in the box was simply called Does it sink or float? In this activity children would take the various objects out of the bag and decide if they sink or float in water. After predicting which they think would happen the children would then place the object into the water and find out what happens!

The second activity that I included in the box was called sink the lid. In this activity the children would choose either the small or the large lid. They would then keep placing stones on the lid to see how many it would take to get the lid to sink.
